A world apart from nowhere is the best place to begin. My family decided to start this blog with the purpose of letting the world see, comment on, and learn about the Mormons.
We are a diverse people. We are different in our beliefs, but not so much that we have not common ground with our fellow religionists or non-religionists. We are citizens in various nations and are subject to many different political ideal-isms. We believe in following the order of law and changing the order of law by way of individual political involvement.
We aren’t any different than the protestant organizations who sought to worship and believe differently than the Roman Catholic Church or the Church of England. We have the right and freedom to worship and share our beliefs according to the protection of the constitution of the United States and the countries in which we belong.
Our people know for sure that there is a God and he loves us. He is our Father and His concern for our life is immeasurable. He won’t interfere in our lives by force. He will listen and help if we ask, but it is our choice which dictates the outcome of our life. We choose by our actions, words, and reactions to life’s challenges; but we cannot choose the consequences for these actions.

As you may already know, I’m no longer a member of the LDS church. I converted to Roman Catholicism a few years ago and have since quit going to Mass.
In my theological studies, when I was preparing to become a Catholic, I learned a lot about theology that I never learned in Primary. While I would agree that many flavors of Protestantism were in response to actions by RCC or the Church of England, I would have to say that the LDS church is theologically different from many Protestant churches, although no less interesting to study in its historical context.
I agree with your statement that the LDS church is different from many Protestant churches, in fact from most Protestant churches. What we have is not reformation or protest from the status quo or the ideologies of mankind thus far stated or studied. There is no comparison to what we have. The term restoration is what we claim. The church was restored through a prophet, not a theologian who studied at a university or seminary, but rather a man who decided to know for himself and with an open mind sincerely ask for that answer. Just like Socrates of old, who taught by practical application and physical parallels, like the record of the student who came to learn from him and asked him to teach him. This student was then asked to follow him. Socrates took this student into the ocean and pushed his head under water and held it there. The student was compliant until he required air. He tried to push up but the master held it firm. He then exerted all his energy to obtain that life giving air. Socrates then said, “When you desire learning like you desire air then you will learn.” And so it was with Joseph Smith Jr. He was a young man bothered by all the varying opinions around him, and determined in himself to ask the one true individual to answer him. He was also bound in such a way as Socrates’ student and with all his strength he had to call upon God to obtain the wisdom he sought. It was granted him!
The fullness of Christ’s church was again revealed from heaven as it was to Adam, Noah, Abraham and Moses. The truth of all things was once again open for instruction and obtaining. The progress of humankind did not truly begin until after this event. Check recorded history it shows a peaked increase in knowledge and technological advancement. Man once again was seeking truth from the source of ALL truth.
I know you may not understand this, and in many ways cannot prove this in 5 by 5 methods, but there is a way that absolute truth makes sense. It brings a peace and a clarity. This manner is from God, who wants us to learn all. It would be foolish for Him not to allow this.
I want you to know that these things are true. There is no comparison for the LDS theology, it came directly from God to a prophet. The first prophet to be called directly by God in our day to perform His work and speak for Him today.
I am glad that you took the time to comment on my blog. It shows that there are those out there looking to understand or share their experiences.
I appreciate your posts. Please continue to provide your comments. They open many doors for conversation.
