A Brand New Year for Youth everywhere

A good place to see what is great and wonderful. It is most marvelous to think that the Lord wants the youth to know he is still “cool”.

Enjoy these songs, they really make a difference.

  1. I found this broadcast to be a little…evangelical?

Even as a seventeen-year-old (the blatantly obvious target audience), I felt the broadcast was bordering on sacrilegious. The Lord doesn’t need to be cool. He doesn’t follow any trends. I’ve always taken pride in the respect and reverence with which our church worships and as such found this theatrical display to be extremely disconcerting.

  2. Scott,

I am sorry that you feel so disconcerted about the new site. There was a great deal of prayer and inspiration that went into this. This had to be approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve before it was released to the world.

To quote Nephi, “I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things.” We may not understand the “condescension of God” in this matter. Also to quote the Lord in Isaiah (Isa. 55:8), “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”

I know that change is difficult to embrace, especially when it seems so close to something that we perceive as irreverent. The Lord has his reasons for everything, and I am glad that living prophets lead and guide our us through the gift and power of God, and by direction of the Holy Ghost.

This was an inspired production given of the Spirit to the Living Oracles. We as His children (Our Heavenly Father) need to trust his wisdom and embrace His inspiration even though it may seem complete contrary to our upbringing.

Think of how Abraham must have felt when the Lord told him to take his only son and kill him on the top of a high mountain? Was that a bit irreverent and sacreligious? I would have to think so, but did Abraham follow through with the Lord’s command?

If that is the case shouldn’t we as his children follow his example and do as he did in following he Lord’s inspiration. There is a reason for all things. In time you will come to see this. You are only 17, and there are many things that you hold dear. I know I was there at 17. I can relate with you exactly. The years have seasoned and tempered my perception and granted me many wonderful opportunities at discernment.

I am a Young Men’s president, and I was called just 2 months ago to begin the process of integrating our youth into the teachings of the gospel. We are looking toward the temple as an ultimate goal. The preparation needed to enter the House of the Lord is critical. We need to enjoy the service of the Lord and be encouraged by his promises.

We have that by following the prophets and by living by EVERY word that proceeds forth from His servants mouths, he will never allow them to lead us astray.

I know these things, and I also know how you feel. I was a little surprised at the format of the media, but it is good, if there is anything virtous, lovely, of good report or praisworthy we seek after these things, regardless of where they come from.

Keep that in mind. The Lord has His plan for us delicately outlined and His words will be fulfilled whether by His own voice, or the voice of His servants, it is the same…

Thanks for your comments. Keep leaving messages like these. They are great for conversation.
